My Winter Skincare Product Picks

Oh, the weather outside is frightful but your skin doesn’t need to be…

Ok, I’ll admit that was bad. But bear with me as I try to get into the holiday spirit.

As the weather gets colder and colder it’s important to switch our skincare routines up. In the winter everyone’s skin gets drier (yes, even combo/oily skin like mine), and it’s important to use products that can bring that moisture and plumpness back.

Luckily, there are a bunch of lovely products out there that can help us achieve just that and more. And to make your life easier, I’ve pulled together some of the most intriguing yet appropriate skincare products you can make use of during the cold months ahead.

I’ve designed a full-ish routine (minus sunscreen cause that’s super personal) of products that either a. work well in conjunction or b. work well with products you might already own that you don’t want to switch up.

But enough of my word vomit, let’s talk skincare!

Skinfix Barrier+ Foaming Clay Cleanser

I’ve never heard anyone talk about this cleanser so let’s shine some light on it, shall we? This is a unique clay cleanser that cleans out the gunk on your face without stripping it of its moisture. It’s especially good at getting rid of dead skin cells and such that tend to pile up when your skin gets really dry. I’d say this is a perfect addition to your double cleansing routine no matter your skin type because it’s gentle enough to use daily, even on sensitive skin.

Youth To The People Mandelic Acid + Superfood Unity Exfoliant

Here’s the thing, when it gets cold outside we tend to forget about exfoliating because our skin is already more sensitive than it would be in the summer. But exfoliating is extremely important even during winter. We tend to accumulate dry, flakey skin that needs to go so that our skin can glow. And this Youth To The People exfoliator is perfect for the occasion! It’s gentle so all skin types can use it. And even though it helps even out skin texture and exfoliate all that dead skin, it supports your moisture barrier to not irritate your skin. Something like this is a must during the winter months!

Glow Recipe Plum Plump™ Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Hyaluronic acid serums can be used all year round, but they’re especially useful when it gets cold outside and our skin needs extra moisture. There are a lot of great HAs on the market but this one by Glow Recipe is especially great at delivering that hydration and plumping up the skin. It has great ingredients that support your skin’s health and it’s lightweight so it works great under any moisturizer. If you haven’t incorporated a HA serum in your routine, this one’s worth a shot.

Youth To The People Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi

I had to feature another YTTP product here because they’re a brand that understands good skincare and constantly delivers positive results. But I digress. The colder months of the year are the perfect time to bust out those thicker moisturizers that feel like a blanket on your face. Yes, even if you’re oily. This one is perfect because it’s thick and extremely moisturizing but it absorbs beautifully into the skin. So the hydration stays but it doesn’t feel like you have a face mask on your face that’s getting all over everything. Plus, it has soothing ingredients that are perfect to calm redness and nourish your skin. So if you have sensitive skin, this could become your bestie!

Farmacy Cheer Up Brightening Vitamin C Eye Cream with Acerola Cherry

There are people who don’t believe in the power of eye creams. But I certainly do. Especially when my skin dries out because of the weather. This eye cream by Farmacy is great because it not only hydrates, it also brightens the under eyes. It contains great ingredients like Vitamin C, HA, and Caffeine to bring your under-eye circles back to life but also to hydrate. Plus, this eye cream works great under makeup because it smooths out your under eyes without being too heavy of a formula. It’s a perfect balance.

Paula’s Choice Hyaluronic Acid + Peptide Lip Treatment Booster

When it comes to wintertime, we simply cannot forget about the lips. Lip balm is crucial when it’s cold outside because it helps to protect your lips from burning and cracking off. This one by Paula’s Choice is not only a lip balm but a lip treatment so it’s designed to heal and hydrate your lips. It has great ingredients like Squalane, Peptides, and HA that nourish the lips deeper than a regular balm would. And because it is a satin formula, it’s perfect to layer under all the red lipstick we’ll be wearing this holiday season!

Topicals Like Butter Mask for Dry, Sensitive & Eczema-Prone Skin

If you were to incorporate/switch up only one product from your routine, I recommend it be a hydrating face mask like this one. This mask is made for dry, sensitive skin but even oilier skin can handle it during the colder months. This has a thick whipped consistency that’s made to deeply nourish and reduce irritation and dryness from the skin. If you really need hydration, you can use it as an overnight mask. But if you just need to give your skin some quick TLC, you can use it as a wash-off mask as well. It’s a great pick for literally anyone.

And that wraps up my winter skincare picks of 2021!

Keep in mind that I tried to look for products that could work on a variety of different skin types and that could be interchangeable in different skincare routines. So make sure to take what works and leave what doesn’t.

Now, I want to know: what do your winter skincare product picks look like this year? Anything I absolutely need to know about?

Thank you so much for reading! I hope this was helpful.

Love always,

Isa ❤
